The best time to start preparing for adult responsibilities is while you are still in school.  If you have a disability, you can apply for vocational rehabilitation (VR) services to find out if you are eligible for assistance.  The goal of the Transition Program with TWS/VRS is to identify and begin working with students before they graduate so there isn't a delay in services once they leave school.  We usually work with students in their last two years of high school or beginning at age 14, depending on the student's individual needs and need for services to help them move from school to competitive employment or independent living in the community.
